Toshiba A100 - Ticking noise when plugged in

I have had a Toshiba A100 come in for repair, it wasn't powering on, so I assumed it might be DC jack problem, before I replaced the DC jack, I could hear a ticking noise coming from the DC jack area.

I replaced the jack, but it still wont power on, and I still get the the same ticking noise.
I've attached a pic, sorry about the image quality

ticking sound from the dc jack area is quite unusual. The sound might be generating from the HDD or something.

Looks like something is shorted. You should check transistors and diodes in that area.

Very old post but sorry to wake it up as there still isn't an answer. I'm experiencing the same issue. Any answer? Also if I dash gas, not literally, on the coils, the laptop would catch fire the way there are hot.
