Ok to use 125v 8ah fuse in place of 250v?

no power to my 42inch plasma panasonic. found 2 separate 8amp 250v fuses just on the other side of the power supply. One is blown. the local electronics store says it will work fine with an 8ah 125v fuse. Is this correct?

If it is pn the primary side and supplied by 120V, then it is OK. If they are in the secodary side circuits and they are used in the circuits with voltage higher than 125 Volt then you need to use the 250V rating fuse, the voltage rating is made to insure that the current will not flow through the open fuse when the fuse blown, higher voltage can jump the gap of the blown fuse link inside the fuse. Be safe and use same rating.

As above - it may work in that it would enable the set to come on but it is when it blows that the problem will occur - most boards have a message near the fuse saying you must replace with like for like same amps same volts same characteristics fast blow slow blow etc.

I agree, why to take chances and risk when you can be sure. Bad fuse can make you a lot of damage to your plasma. So take a 250V rating fuse and sleep with a clear conscience.

Exactly where is it in the circuit?

Have you found a fault and repaired that? If not, it's generally not a good idea to swap in a new fuse until the reason why it blew is determined. Putting in a fuse & powering on while the fault remains can cause further damage.

Now a bit of speculation (guessing based on odds) The odds are the fuse only had to handle AC mains input voltage, that their design specified the 250V so it would handle operation in parts of the world where the voltage isn't 120VAC. Come to think of it you didn't tell us in your member profile where you are located so we don't know whether your power grid supplies 120VAC or higher.
