    A7v8x-la

    I have an Asus a7v8x-la with some Elite 6.3v 1500uf caps which are giving me a an inconsistent reading with esr of 0.0 or .01, even out of the board. Find it hard to trust the readings because there seems to be several like this. What do you guys think, are they toast?

    I'm also wondering if an athlon 3000 and phenom 3000 are interchangable?

    What do you mean an inconsistent reading?
    What are you using to measure ESR?
    An ESR of 0.0 or .01 is good

    For that board NO you CanNot use a Phenom.

    Your board is:

    Socket A
    Supports AMD Athlon XP 3200+ processor (2.20 GHz/400 MHz/Barton core)
    Maximum approved processors:
    * Athlon XP 3200+ Barton Processor (2.20 GHz, 400MHz)
    * Athlon XP 2700+ Thoroughbred Processor (2.16GHz, 333MHz)

      Re: A7v8x-la

      Thanks for the reply. I'm using the blue esr. Bob Parkers chart shows "normal" for this size and voltage at roughly .15; that's why I was wondering.

      These a7v8x-la boards_I have two of them, one with the phenom from compaq and the other from hp with an athlon_ both have 462 sockets.

        No idea what you're on about when you say one of them has a phenom. They only exist for socket AM2 and AM3. There never was a phenom for skt. A.
        I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

        No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

          Re: A7v8x-la

          Yep they never made a Phenom for socket 462 (socket A).

          You might be confusing it with a Sempron.

            Brethin, I'm not looking at the cpu right now but I suspect you're probably right. Sounds like the sort of thing I'm all too good at.
