    Re: Insignia NS L42Q 10A

I see, budm. Makes sense. Thanks for the info, I didn't think about cross-model board usage with component differences.

tom66, yeah, I wouldn't feel super comfortable trusting a "working pull" like those unless it was dirt cheap.

Make sure they have a good returns policy. Most boards from broken screen TVs are usually good.

What is the actual reading? The definition of shorted could mean something different to various people.

The lcd computer monitor I'm using right now had a shorted (1.5 ohm) ceramic cap on the logic board. See

I need to locate my better multimeter, or go borrow one of my father's many. I just don't trust this one I have here.

Hey this thread was very insightful, I just picked a this model up off of craigslist for FREE and knew I could find something here on badcaps, I'm going to test the fuse and the two caps (are they filter caps?) on the t con, I think the t con in this unit may be newer? i'm not sure, but some of the chips look a bit different, I'll post some picure of it later on.

Yes, you can look for shorts uisng the Ground plane of the board for the meter probe and just move the red probe around the board start with the caps, especially the MLCC type.

Selldoor, I'm waiting for pictures, but I believe I have this model tv that is turning on, but with a very bright white screen. Apparently, you can still see the picture on the tv, but with a very bright white screen and limited color. Any thoughts?

@playa: It sounds like bad GAMMA Voltage problem on the T-CON board, will need to see the screen shot and the pictures of the T-CON board.
If this is your T-CON board, then more thane likely to have bad GAMMA V ref IC AS15.

@budm Thanks! Unfortunately, you lost me on the "more thane likely to have bad GAMMA V ref IC AS15". lol I don't know anything about these things. I'm curious if this problem is a simple fix (ie. maybe just needing to swap a board). Not sure if I'll be able to get access to the board (the tv isn't mine, at least not yet). I should be able to get you a picture of the screen, though. If all I need to do is swap the T-Con board, is that basically just a plug and play (just the 3 ribbons)?
