      Re: Samsung LE32R88BD/ BN44-00155A

      Hi All,

This is my first post. My name is Clayton and I am located in Ormond Beach, Florida, U.S.A.. I have an A.S. in electronics engineering technology which I received in the fall of 2011.

I found this thread while searching for the value of rm801. Thank you bornintheuk for linking the schematic or I would have most likely missed the carbon trace at cm810 and thanks to retiredcaps for pointing out the bad glue. I will be removing this glue from all of my future repairs.

Its funny the glue issue never came up in any of my college courses. Just goes to show that years of field experience is far superior to a college degree. And is most likely why I have yet to find a company willing to hire someone fresh out of school.

Thanks agian to all who contributed to this thread. You have saved me time and parts on this repair. I will look here first for all my tech questions in the future.

      Clayton

I wouldn't say the above is 100% true. People with experience also need to keep their skills current by constantly learning otherwise the new guys pass them by.

And is most likely why I have yet to find a company willing to hire someone fresh out of school.
Keep plugging away. Good luck in the job hunt.

Can anyone tell me the value of the resistor RM801 please? I can see from the schematic it is 300K ohm, but I'm not sure of the power rating?

I look at my SCH , RM801 on page 2 is 0.22 Ohm 1Watt resistor.

Post clear focused pictures of your power board following my sig file instructions below exactly (see post #21).

Do you have a multimeter and know how to measure DC voltage?

                    Hi there!
I am the very new user here, but I managed to find the thread I was about to create.
I have BN44-00155A power supply board in Samsung LCD TV. Same problem as everybody mentioning.
As you can see from the picture, RM801 is burnt, and some of the glue are really dark brown, which should be removed (as i understood from the posts).
I can't see any of physically damaged caps.
Could someone give some hints if they understand what could be wrong with the board that caused RM801 failure. Thank you in advance!

@APKIS, RM801 fusible resistor is blown is more likely due to shorted out MOSFETs, see the attached diagram.
Make sure to remove all the yellow/brown glue.

@speedypro, check to see if you have either 5V or 12V at both ends of the SMD fuse on the T-CON board. The buttons on the TV works, you can turn the TV on and Off?

Next to each connectors there are labels telling you what the voltages should be. Reports the voltage readings/name of the pins.

I'm sorry, i'm not an expert...so let me ask you, Do i have to energizer the board and with the tester read the voltage in the connectors? what connectors are you talking about?. Sorry again and thank you.

Do i should removed the all the glue in the board? what is the best way to do it?

                                There is other pictures ...

Yes you have to have the boards all hook up and power applied. If you look at the multi-pin white connectors on the power board, you will see voltage labels next to the pins. We need to know what you are getting or not getting at those connectors, by the way, those yellow glue must be removed.
Warning! do not touch any heatsink or anything in the hot side (line side) of the board, it is fatal.

                                    Hi

My rm801 resistor keeps exploading. Like it exploads with visible light flairs and crack noise, BAM with smoke afterwards. It happens with no cables connected except for the power cable. I've replaced CM810 and the two mosfets QM801 / QM802.

                                    Any idea?
None of the capacitors have visible damage or look blown.

Replace with a higher wattage resistor of the same value maybe...

I mean, it's not the ideal fix but... I'd hope it would at least work to find out where the main problem is and why more current is running through that resistor. If and when you do this, try to measure the voltage across the resistor once replaced and report back.

What resistance do you read on the output side of the fusible resistor that feeds the MOSFET's and Primary Ground ref point (Source pin of QM802)?

                                          Hi Guys,

I have a BN44-00155A fitted to a LE32R88BD for a neighbour, basically it swtiches on and off by itself. I had seen on line a company selling a kit of three caps to repair it CM851, CM852, CM860. I basically bought some replacement caps from a quality shop on ebay, fitted them and all seemed well it ran for 5 hours no problems. I left it for a day turned it on and after about 1 hour is did it once, left it again and tried it again today and after about 20 mins is switched on and off about 5 times vary close together. Help!

I am very competent at soldering and using a meter.

                                          Andy
