Typical bad tab bond problem.

is there any good way to fix that besides putting something in there to apply more pressure and praying?

On an LCD it refers to the driver ICs on the sides of the panel, as they use that technology to attach them. If there are bad connections you can get weird picture problems.

Proper fix requires equipment that cost over $20,000 so nothing you could really try except his idea.
