    Acer x241w capacitor saga

I have a five year old Acer X241W 24" lcd monitor which started acting up about a month ago - the screen would flash on and then go blank, etc. Did some googling and found this forum and discovered the capacitor issue.

We opened it up and indeed found several bulging capacitors. I ordered a replacement kit and my dad replaced them all for me. Monitor worked great, but after using it for about 2-3 hours I heard a loud crack. Then, nothing happened, no smoke or odor, the screen looked fine, etc. I thought maybe the noise came from the plastic case adjusting itself or something. Continued to use the monitor for another half hour or so.

A while later I came back to the computer and attempted to bring the monitor out of it's power save mode, and all I got was a dark screen with some bluish vertical bands and a few pixel wide red and green lines.

My dad reopened the monitor and saw no obvious problems or scorch marks, finally discovered two small blue ceramic capacitors on the power board that have hairline cracks indicating they had split open.

So, would that be the cause of the dark screen? Fixable? I'm curious about the delay between the cracking sound and the screen failure. Maybe these events are/are not related? I know nothing about this stuff, so I'm just throwing this out here to get some ideas to see if it's worth trying to repair.

Those capacitors are for the snubber circuits to protect the MOSFETs that drive the power transformers, its function is to clamp down high reverse voltage when the MOSFET turns off, without it, the MOSFET can be damaged. Can you remove them and take good pictures so we can see the values?

        That's a ceramic cap that's rated 1000pf 1KV +/-10% tolerance:
