the inverter in this set makes the 2 of the caps (18j 3kv) hot enough to melt off the inverter board..the other 2 caps seem to be fine any one got any suggestions?

I hope someone else can answer this as I don't know.
But you could try swapping them around to see if the problem follows the capacitors or not. If it does the capacitors are probably bad somehow.
