I just assume I would see some activity, flashing light, startup tone, a flicker of hope...LOL

You can check if it is a bad PSU. Locate the 5V connector on the main board power connector (connects between the main board and PSU.) Check for 5V there.

Re: Samsung PN58B550 no picture, replaced almost everything

Hi, old thread, but wanted to share my fix for Insignia plasma (rebranded Samsung).

Power up, sound no video, laid out, checked ribbons, worked when flat on table. Set upright, not working. Logic board had a hot inductor component on it. Eventually logic board stopped working.

After some rabbit trails, the fix:

Under the TV stand attachment plate (where the plastic stand piece is inserted) there is a small 3 wire ribbon cable, which is completely covered by the plate. During assembly at the factory the ribbon was looped downward on top of the aluminum frame, to which the plate attaches. The plate squeezed the ribbon cable against the frame edge and eventually pinched throught the insulation, grounding the center cable onto the frame, which is an electrical ground. THis is most likely the cause of the hot inductor, pulling current through the logic board to ground.

THe wire was not cut, just open, so I used electrical tape to reseal it, re-installed everything, works perfect.

If you get sound/no picture, this is a long shot, but worth the 5-10 minutes to take 4 screws out, don't really have to disconnect any wires (the power jack slides out, wires move free).

Might help someone, but it is probably not a common issue.

        Good Luck with your TV

I have an interesting one on my bench I hope someone can shed some light on. It is a Samsung PN50A530
When turned on I get sound, no picture. No VS supply, all other voltages good.
LED2000 light, the other 2 flashing on logic board. Let sit turned on for 20 minutes, LED2000 goes out, the VS comes on at 204V correct, and the picture comes on and works perfect. Untill turned off, then it takes 2o minutes to get a picture again. Since picture is perfect when it finial comes on the Y main, X main, buffer, signal, and A boards are working, as is the power supply. I am suspecting it is the logic board.
          Any ideas.

It is more likely the bad C102 (47uF 10V TANTALUM) on the main board. http://www.shopjimmy.com/samsung-bn9...530s2fxza.htm#
