Some monitors won't power up with no signal, try it on a computer first. Also what caps did you use as replacements?

2 seconds to black can be

            a) bad caps
            b) bad ccfls
            c) bad ccfl wiring (especially the return wiring)
            d) bad secondary windings on the inverter transformer

I'm just surfing on here and saw this thread, I have the same model KDS 700P it's been at least a year since I powered it on, it's been sitting in my garage but if I remember correctly, it would stay on about 1 or 2 minutes then go to the amber light, I found out I could get it to stay on by turning it off waiting 3 seconds then turn it back off, I would do this 3 times and then it would stay on. so it was a 3-3 thing. One of these days I'm going to disassemble and troubleshoot it.

I don't think Radioshack sells any Low ESR caps which is what you need in a monitor or computer. Get some quality low-esr caps from badcaps.net or something and try to re-cap it again

low ESR are better in their lifetime, but also with a NON-ESR the screen should work-

If they are for switching power supply filtering circuits, then you need low ESR type due to high opreating frequency (50~100KHz) that it has to filter out, you can can long life time non low ESR 105c.
