    Solder mask scratched

Hi everybody, i did some soldering to replace a dead capacitor and discovered the back of the PCB board solder mask scratched. The board is working but it is fine to leave the copper trace exposed? I google and found nail polish can be use for re-coating but it containing titanium dioxide. Is titanium dioxide conductive? Is nail polish safe to use on PCB?
    Thanks for all help.

    Re: Solder mask scratched

You can leave the copper exposed, or you can use clear finger nail polish in stead of color one. In the old day they do not have any solder mask since the board is not wave solder, when doing wave solder, all the exposed copper will have solder applied which sometime is not good to do especially when you have big copper plane, with solder mask, only the expose copper will be coated with solder.

      Re: Solder mask scratched

Hi budm, Thank you for your great help.
One more thing I'm curious to know. From the photo is look like there a coating or something on the PCB and some soldering joints. I did some cleaning with zippo fluid using Q tips at the area after the soldering job and it turn whiter. Any idea are they PCB lacquer or solder flux?
      Thank you.
