    Fake Toshiba Transistors on EBay

Buyer beware Toshiba 2SC3281 and 2SA1302 have not been manufactured by Toshiba since around the year 2000 but fakes are still being sold on ebay today, the new Toshiba replacements are 2SA1943 and 2SC5200.

These are output transistors used in Peavey (and other brands) powered mixer amplifiers
I would buy from Digikey and forget using EBay for these.

Good reminder but not news... China has been making fake transistors for a long time...

    Interesting read: http://sound.westhost.com/counterfeit.htm

Probably a lot more now than on there, too!

Re: Fake Toshiba Transistors on EBay

Too bad there isn't an online lookup resource where you could find the end-of-production date and superceded-by information. And while I'm at it, an explanation of how to decipher the date code for the chip you are looking up...

A pity but the datasheet often has last buy dates and date code info, and sometimes replacements are listed if there is one.

I haven't checked prices, but shouldn't OnSemi's replacements be suitable? I'm thinking of the MJxx281/302 range.

Here's a good thread which covers it from a practical side.

Not bad, would have been nice if we could see the actual package markings though...
