    e-GeForce 8500GT 3 bad caps

which caps should I use to replace the FZ76 1500 6.3v on the e-GeForce 8500GT?

Would 1000 1200 or 1800 or 2200 for that matter.

    Thanks!

      Use the right size.
Those aren't even polymer so that size isn't the least bit hard to find.
      .
      Here is the specs.

Want caps with the same or less ESR and the same or more Ripple.
      .
Bad Sacon FZ on video cards is a REALLY common problem.

        Re: e-GeForce 8500GT 3 bad caps

I'm new! I was told I could go up to 1800 or go down to 1200! Just want to make sure!

          Re: e-GeForce 8500GT 3 bad caps

If the ESR isn't appropriate then neither one.
You should be looking at ESR first. It's more important.

Whoever told you changing uF like that is -always- okay knows just enough to get you into trouble.

There is NO guarantee when changing uF.
If you want to -make sure- then draw out the circuit and do the math for it.
          -
Some circuits are uF sensitive and others aren't.
          -
Most designs can use caps +/-50% from the design optimum cap's uF .. but..
How do you know the 1500uF isn't already at +50%?
How do you know the 1500uF isn't already at -50%.?
Only the circuit designer knows if 1500uF is in the middle or on the edge.
If you want to know too then you have to do the math.
          .
          .
Odds are it's somewhere in the middle and a 20% change is okay. - But no guarantee.
          Too ways to find out.
          - Do the math. (very time consuming)
          - Trial by fire. ('switch and pray' - possibility of damage or it not working)
And 1500uF caps are easy to find. - Why would you do either?

When you -HAVE- to change uF. [And this is not one of those times.]
Then go up in uF because uF goes down as caps age.
That means as it gets older the uF will get closer to the original value.

          ~
          That said...
People that work with certain circuits all the time have a pretty good idea of what caps should be there and what they can change.
But what works in one kind of circuit doesn't always work in other kinds of circuits.
Video cards have dozens of kinds of circuits and all we know is it's a video card.
          .
          .
          And again-
CHECK THE ESR - IT MATTERS.
