    Re: TOSHIBA SATELLITE C650-1CT Dead!!

    Hi Guys,

Thank you so much for your help.

I have checked the following, with just the motherboard and a mains charger attached, no battery or LCD:

FUSE6000, is not open circuit and if I measure from one of the negative terminal where the DC jack connectors comes in across the fuse I have 19.8v

L6000 is not open circuit...do I need to measure voltage across it?
L6201 is not open circuit...do I need to measure voltage across it?
Q6002.. I am not sure how to test this, I am looking for voltage or checking for OC?

Also it was suggested to measuring the +VBAT rail for 19v while powered by the charger. Can you confirm where/how to measure that, been a while since I used circuit diagrams. I just have the motherboard with the DC jack connected and the charge plugged in, NO other items are attached, do I need anything else attached?

Search the PDF for "+VBAT" sometimes it's called "B+", to find a suitable test point to measure.
You might need to connect the power button later.

          Re: TOSHIBA SATELLITE C650-1CT Dead!!

Hi, I have found on page 6 of the PDF a point to test, its in the middle of the PDF, it shows between R6020 and L6002, I have circled the components. The top red circle I believe is R6020, so if I have the negative probe on the black wire coming into the motherboard across R6020 I get 3.5v each side.

Now the second circle I have circled what I believe is L6002, the large grey component next to the round component with the red and silver top? so I had the black probe in the black connector where the 19v comes in and I get 0V volts on both sides of the grey square components.

          Am I measuring that right?

Thank you for all your help

            Re: TOSHIBA SATELLITE C650-1CT Dead!!

It's unlikely that the voltage at R6020 is different to the voltage at L6002, they are connected.
Q6002 isn't being turned on. Possible reasons are.
            Low resistance G to S on Q6002.
            Low resistance G to S on Q6005.
            Or something wrong with U6000.

Use the resistance range and with no power applied to the mainboard. The Gate and Source pins of the 2 MOSFETS are actually in parallel. While you are testing Q6002, you will be testing Q6005 at the same time while they are soldered to the mainboard. I'm not certain what would be a normal reading. We will think about that later.
