btw, Politicians all over Europe seem to have an obsession with the year 2012,
are you seeing that in the states? i'm wondering if that's the date of some major event. it's never 2011, or 2013 - always 2012. |

Dec 21, 2012.....its the end of the Mayan Long Count Calendar. It'll pretty much be the same as Y2K.

I have a sweet spot for old weapons of war. One of the ones we have been blasting away with is a modified .455 Webley. Its chambers .45 acp rounds. The factory loaded 45 ammo seemed to be a little too hot for her so we are now shooting hand loads in black powder. That pistol is a hoot!

i saw a couple of neat weapons the other day,
first, an ancient chinese 10shot semi-automatic crossbow - well a replica, the original would have rotted away. interesting though! and something that looked like it was designed to skirt around ani-gun laws - a muzzle-loading revolver! |

I'm both a 'working' member here and a reloading retailer...see me as 'kingofcoins' wherever good deals are found... or write for quotes or links.

All I have ( now) is a Mosin Nagant, 7.62x54R but its in a Monte Carlos stock with a nice scope on it. It is pretty sharp looking.

Those are nice shooters. Any history on yours?? The history of the Nagant in general is interesting.

Mine is a 1937 Tula, I still have the original Soviet stock which is beat up with some illegible russian carving in it.

keep the original stock in good shape. you never know what's going to be worth something in the future.

nice. after five years in this country, I found out that for buying and owning certain guns you don't need a license, just a registration with the dealer. no fuss.
this includes most repeater rifles and break-action shotguns. no semi-autos, no handguns, no pumpguns. so, i've had a look at a cheap .22lr Norinco JW-15a , a copy of the CZ or Brno no.2. as cheap as it gets (250€ with a standard 4x32, a bag and a box of rounds). looks a bit rough, but okay. do any of you guys have experience with any of the Norinco guns in terms of quality? they're chinese but a lot of them must have been imported before the ban. thanks!

Norinco is decent. They used to import AK style rifles and 1911s into the US. They banned that and ammo+guns got more expensive.
I hope domestic makers benefited from it at least. |

yeah.....I don't know anyone that owns a Norinco, but they have a negative attitude towards them. I wouldn't have one because its made in china.

.45 ACP Colt "0" frame Series 70 . Largely unmodified other than some holster wear around the muzzle and a gentle trigger job .
I had to qualify recently with a M-9 ( Beretta 92 mil-spec) and hated it . I had my carry pistol with me and asked to run the course with it . At the end of the day the range master asked me if I would loan the weapon to him long enough to to run the course . Fifteen minutes later he returned the weapon to me with a great big grin on his face and a great score sheet . " I had forgotten what a real pistol could do on this course . Great trigger and hits what you aim at . You wouldn't consider parting with ..." In the end he hand selected a better example out of the collection of abused range pieces and allowed me to take another shot at the course . I now have three qualifications on form DA-33 combat pistol qualification score card M-9 .45 ACP Colt "0" frame Series 70 SAA .45 long colt 5" I may be the only civilian to hold a qualification with the old single action peacemaker at this time . oddly enough there are still several active duty servicemen that have qualified with the old six shooter . Guess I'm not the only dinosaur left . No one had posted here in a while so I thought it was my turn to jump out of the shadows and say hello . ~kop
