Default D-Link DGL-4300 Gamer Lounge

Hi

I found a 4300 yesterday that had non working lan and wan ports, the wireless works perfect and there are no problems logging on to it and upgrading firmware.

However the lanports never woke up so I took it apart and saw 2 caps that are blown.

The caps on the left are ok but the two on the right are blown.

Close up of the two blown caps.

I guess by soldering off one on the left side and measuing it and ordering two new ones I can maybe fix this router.

However I don't understand why they have caps from ground to ground !
I'm not very good at understanding circuits, are you ?

Can I put a wire over the two blown ones to test lan/wan ports or will this for sure damage the box ?

Gab

it's to block dc current - they are probably .1uf
and they blew because of an earthing fault / current loop between the devices connected to it.
