Good soldering project. Can't rmember how many exactly, but a LOT of soldered joints in construction. But it's not too difficult. After all, I built one!
Hint: Found out afterwards that it helps if you read the instructions first If you look around, you can find a site with some useful mods to the basic design which may care to impliment during construction such as reducing the power to the LCD to acheive consdierably longer battery life. However if you live in Australia, a root canal from your local dentist might just be a less painful experience than attempting mail order from Dick Smith. It would be an act of supreme desperation if I ever placed an order again - not really sure that I could bring myself to do it. It takes a lot to reduce me to a raving lunatic on the phone but even I have my limits and Dick Smith Electronics exceeded those by a more than just a considerable margin. But full marks to them for consistency. On the three occassions that I have ordered from them in the past, they have always managed to set a new standard for incompetence. If there was an award for such a feat, it would be no contest. |
