I have a dell latitude 6410 that i left at a friends house for a period of time and when i came back everything on my laptop was changed. My admin name, my password, i cant even log into my laptop. My friend claims to not have used the laptop in a few months and forgot the newer password. I want to totally reset the whole laptop, start from scratch so i can get everything back up to par how i want it. Someone please help!

Depending on how old/new the laptop is there is probably a key you can press to make it boot up in recovery mode and just make everything as it was when it was new. Which means it will delete everything personal that might have been on there and reset everything. Not that familiar with what key dell usually use for that.

This is a copy and paste from yahoo answers so may not work but worth a shot; "when dell screen comes up on keyboard hit CTRL+ F11 twice only then you will see Dell pc restore by Symantec.Hit on restore and hit on i agree and select the option Restore the pc to dell factory settings and then it will restore the pc.If you have purchased this laptop say late 2004(oct) your laptop will have this partiton. If NOT then you need to check with your hardware vendor" Also look here as it depends if you are on xp or vist/win7 http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...8103600AAQkH17 Last edited by gilly1984; 07-16-2012 at 08:32 AM..
