Stretch - You've been bumped down to 3rd place by my buddy Swordphsh! Will you stand for this?

i don't have the resources to mount an assault.
i'm a tad limited on space here so I'm probably doing as much as I'll be able to do for a while.

Thinking about going and replacing that second PS3............. |

Man, am I ever an idiot... I had no idea that you could run CPU and GPU clients at the same time. I thought I saw somewhere that running a GPU client would lock out the CPU or somesuch.
Anyway, I now have my 460GTX folding, as well as my Athlon II X4 960. Should bump me up by 10k ppd or so! Also, if you're running GPU folding and are sick of the slow internet browsing performance, just go into your options and disable hardware rendering (or enable software rendering, depending on the browser). Uses slightly more CPU time when browsing, but no more laggy scrolling. Of course, for anything else, you're still going to have to pause or close the GPU client to get the best performance. |

Glad you found that out dood. You have plenty of power to run both.
Wow we are under 190 now. 184 to be exact as of this post. Question: Is it worth using a PS3 for folding anymore? Thinking of getting a new one since they are much cooler and use less electricity. |

i am running the new beta client.had the laggy browsing issue too.
its just a old workbench machine with an a64x2 6000+,9800gtx overclocked, and 4gb ram. pretty low end. i solved the lag by turning down the gpu utilization a bit. waiting to get time to upgrade this box to a i7 and a gtx560. its a athlonII x4 and a low end nvidia of some sort. |

I'm running the new V7 client on my work machine. Seems nice...
Mutant - I haven't been running my home PC lately, but I'll be firing it back up sometime next month. I moved it into my bedroom, and I need to get a quieter intake fan for it before I can leave it on all the time. Also, I'm chasing Topcat at the moment... trying to bump him down a spot! |

Sounds good dood. Stanfords site looks different. I'll have to download the latest when I get a chance.
Hope you find a quiet fan. Nothing more irritating than a whining fan. Good luck stretch on getting a house. I see your average is 1004 ppd. Keep on folding I on the other hand won't be using a PS3 for folding anymore. Anyway it has the blinking red light |

For some reason folding via the origami script on linux (mageia 2)completely KILLED the performance... not sure why, hence my main rig (dual 3.2ghz gallatin xeons) is currently not folding... I still have a p4 2.8ghz HT northwood and a pIII 800mhz cumine folding. The former is under XP; The latter is under Debian 6 w/ origami, no GUI (no noticeable lags on it, its a file/print server).

Has anyone else been using the new official client? No more hacks to get GPU and SMP up and running... just install and go! Currently showing over 20k ppd for both my GPU and CPU combined.
Just today fixed a problem that was causing the GPU folder to crash... bad nVidia driver version. Updated to the latest and it's folding away just fine all day today! I'm glad they finally got their shit together and put out a good GUI client. |
