I'll be taking 7th in the next 24 hours (unless daytona fires back up), but then it's a LOOOOONG run to 6th. I need to get a new PC at home to boost my count!

Haven't completed a unit yet it's only using 25% of all four cores? |

Here's a list of the Beta clients - http://folding.stanford.edu/English/DownloadWinOther Assuming you're running Windows, you need to scroll down to find "Windows: V6 Beta SMP2/CPU clients". You also need to register your name to get a passkey - http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-passkey I'll get you the SMP client config that I use in just a second... |

Okay, here's my install guide.
Download the client. Create a new folder in your C: drive, and save the EXE there. When you run the EXE, it assumes that the folder that it's in, is where it is to be installed. Run the EXE. User name? - Your Username Team Number - 49813 (for Badcaps) Passkey? - The key you registered Use Proxy? - probably the default of [no], but if you do, enter yes and configure Big units? - I always set this to big Change Advanced Options? - yes Core priority - leave at idle CPU Usage - leave at 100 Disable assembly code - leave at no Pause if battery power - leave at no if desktop, enter yes if laptop (may also want to enter yes if you have a UPS) Checkpoint Interval? - I set this to 5. Limits how much work has to be redone if I reboot the PC Memory to indicate available - Just leave this to the default of max Set -advmethod always? - set to yes; this will get you the most points. Ignore deadlines - default no Machine ID - leave at 1 CPU affinity - no Additional client parameters - enter -smp IP address to bind - leave blank At this point, the client should fire up and download its first packet. You may still see that it's not using all the cores. If that's true, you need to close the client, go back to the install directory, delete your entire work folder, and restart the client. sometimes it takes a "reboot" of sorts to get the right work packet. Any questions, let me know, and happy Folding! |

I see you dropped your first WU. Only 600 points, which is pretty low for a SMP Advmethod unit. I think you have to complete a number of advmethod units before you start getting the bonus, though. If it doesn't improve in a few days, we'll have to revisit your config.

I have been less than consistent lately. I haven't had luck getting the amd64 version of folding to play well with fedora x64 (via the origami script). my two other folders have been operational off and on (a p4 ht 2.8 and a pIII 800mhz).

I don't bother running it on my A64x2 at home, because my GeForce 8600 can outperform it... (I also don't bother running it on the video card, because it slows down all video performance... even just browsing the web). But hey... it's your power and A/C, so you're welcome to keep on chugging! |
