Default Linux Hardinfo

If you run Linux and want to measure the performance of your computer you can load Hardinfo from the Synaptic Package Manager.

I am posting this on my "good" IBM Thinkpad S478HT 3Ghz Prescott board, installed in a generic case.

This rates as one of my faster boards at 3.91 for the Fibonacci test.

By way of comparison, the average P3 with a 1Ghz chip will give a rating around 10 for the Fibonacci test.

Just wondered what scores other people are getting, especially newer technology boards.

These tests seem to be mostly about processing speed, amount of Ram doesn't seem to cause much variation.

Try the application, it's informative. Don't worry if the first test in the series ZLIB fails, just hit enter and continue, ZLIB seems to be for really old machines..

The application also tells you all about your system, much like CPU-Z does for Windows machines.

Default Re: Linux Hardinfo

I'm running Fedora, and the hardinfo package was available.

I just ran it. I'm getting 2.61. That's with a QX9650 at 3.2GHz.

What do you get for FPU Raytracing? I get 16.25.

Here's the rest of my scores:

CPU MD5 = 53.513

CPU SHA1 = 61.283

CPU Blowfish = 19.839

FPU Raytracing = 26.937

So I'm guessing your machine is super-quick...
