Default Ga-6vem

I have a GA-6VEM which I recapped with 4x 3300uf6.3v and 8x 330uf25v. However I realised that I purchased 85oC rated Rubycons for the 330uf25v part, thus decided to strip em off and fit Panasonic FCs in.

Now I've made a minor but rather fatal mistake, when the one of the 330uf25v cap's lead port at the back got removed. There's the lead port at the top surface of the board, however. Is it feasible if I resolder the cap, this time not fully in, in order to seal the solder at the intact port?

I don't know exactly what you mean but if you broke a lead port, get the solder all the way through the hole.

I'd suggest getting the biggest iron/gun (140W is barely adaquate, from my experience) you can find, flipping the board over, putting a large blob of solder on the lead, then heating the lead up with the big iron, such that the solder runs all the way through. You may want to leave the capacitor sticking up off the board and clipping some small pliers to it to make sure you don't overheat it.

Thanks for the suggestions! I didn't get a higher rated iron (mine is 80W) due to cost. The solder wouldn't flow into the hole too.

I observed that there were lead ports on both sides of the board, for the same hole. Since one of the lead port was intact, I bent the cap slightly, leaving a small gap between the base of the cap and the board, and ran some solder on it. Thank god it passed a full day of prime95!

Another GA-6VEM. This one is the same revision 1.0, but has different VRM controller and thus layout...weird.
This time, the caps around the CPU are CHOYO and are not bulged (at least now ). Three small GSCs are bulged - one black 330uF/25V and two green 1200uF/6.3V. The weird thing is that there are 2 different types of black 330uF/25V caps on the board - 6 G-Luxons (all OK) and 2 GSCs (one of them bad).

Now I know why those 3 caps were bulged on my board (apart from them being crap) - the CPU VRM runs very hot (with Tualatin Celeron 1.3GHz) as there are only 2 mosfets. Replaced green GSCs with Nichicons 1200uF/16V and black GSCs with KOME 1000uF/16V.

run a demanding usb device like a notebook hdd in a usb/ide case.
that is a supply bypass for usb +5
you are likely ok but give it a try.
