Almost looks like cigarette smoke damage?
Could be bad caps on the logic board. Have you reset it to factory defaults using the OSD?

i did an "auto setup" but not a factory reset. I will give tht a try.

this came out of a police station so who knows the krap it has encountered in its lifetime.

I suspect bad caps. Try opening it up and take a look.

all fixed. Its still yellow in comparison to a new monitor like on the mrs, but its 100% brighter and its actually focused now as to before it was just a touch blurry.

There was one bad cap, a 3300 uf/16v. It was bulged at the top and peeing acid from one of the legs as well.

Replaced that and this monitor looks better then the "working" one i have.

i guess i better tear that one apart and at least check it too..
            YAY!
