Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hi all!

First of all I'd like to introduce myself.. my name is Jeanette.. a mother of 2 teens trying to start digging into repairing her own LCD TV since it decided that from now on it will give me sound but no picture..
So.. I saw a lot of techical people introducing themselves.. not me.. I'm a great D-I-Y person in the house.. but technical.. not yet. So.. by the time I have figured out exactly what the problem is, ordered and received the goods to fix the problem, and managed (I hope) to repair the TV.. I'll probably be known in all your minds as that woman that asks too much ;-)

I'm from the Netherlands, about 50 years old (still hurts to say that.. haha) and always eager to learn new things.

Hopelfully this is enough intro for the moment..
Wishing you all a great evening and weekend!

    Jeanette

Hi all. My name is Mike and I like to fix broken electronics for a hobby. I'm a generator mechanic in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, married with 3 boys, and a hacker at heart. I love coming up with fixes for everything that is broken! I stumbled across your forum while looking for information about fixing LCD TV PSBs. Looks like an interesting place and so I signed up! Lots of information here!! Looking forward to becoming a part of your community! Thanks!

        Hello,

My name is Michael and I am here out of a search for issues with a Vizio TV I picked up while doing a board swap for warranty. I currently have my own business doing networking, pc/server jobs as well as DVR's, Vizio & Samsung repairs, etc. I do anything interesting and I am quite diversified. Most of my career which launched in 99' really...has been as an IT consultant/director. However, these days younger guys are stepping into those roles and I am getting interested in the component level of boards. I am trying to repair, solder, and fix TV's as a side thing to my IT business.

Just reading this forum really has taught me a lot already. I wish I had access to all the service manuals. (hint) Anyway, thanks for this forum. Much needed.

        Michael

Howdy! Time to recap my Intel D865GBF. My prediction: learning how = 8 hours; doing it = 30 min.

Hello to all! My name is Aleksandar, I'm a 23 year old informatics student from Croatia. Like the most of you, I like fixing stuff

My grandfather was a electronics teacher, and when I was a child, every now and then, he would give me some electronics that he used in class.. I had 5 volt trains, 3 volt buzzers, and so on.. In 07' I started studdying electronics, but after 3 years of hard time, I had to stop, and start working.. Now I'm a studen again, enjoying life, studdying, and working, hoping to "grow" into someone worth mentioning..

I'm really sorry for my bad english, I learned it by watching sattelite TV as a kid..

I hope that my know how will be helpfull to others, and I will be gratefull for help from others..

                          Hello

I studied Computer Sciences at Uni, but on my careeer I have been mostly a programmer.

I joined this forum trying to find a solution with a problem with my Toshiba Laptop. Apparently I found the answer (damaged capacitor), but still have not tryied to solve it.

English is not my first language, as you might well notice in future posts.

                          Thanks for all the help

Greetings! I am a new member just joined today. I did not know this forum until I was trying to repair two 24 inches SUN monitors by myself a couple of weeks ago. The postings on this forum really dragged me in and I was very impressed by the level of technical details that all authors contributed to that topic - I was motivated by all postings to learn and share from this forum.

I am working for UNC and living in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

My education about electricity and capacitor started with an experiment that my neighbor showed me how to light up an 110 volt bulb by using a wired salty water bottle connecting to the 240 volt power supply. The fuse of the building (about 30 families) got blowed off so many times that we have to repair it by ourselves before our patents notice it - to avoid penalty. I was the one standing on the top of the three layered stools to reach the ceiling fuse box and repair it ... at age of 10.
Later I did chose EE as my major and graduated several times :-)

Now I am a student again on this forum.

                            Best wishes,

                            Leon

                                  Hi,
I found this forum looking for help with my Samsung dtb-h260f and it looks like it's a simple fix with a capacitor replacement. At least...I hope so! I have no idea how to tell if a capacitor is bad, where to buy replacements or how to replace capacitors. Hopefully I'll find help here.
