Re: Asus A7V8X-LA - bad caps?

I'm currently working on a HP a535w with an A7V8X-LA. The original complaint was slow pc & serious malware infestation, but I always check for bad caps too. This board has the same caps except for the 1000uF, they are GSC instead of OST. 2 of these are slightly swollen (I almost missed them). One of the swollen caps is located between floppy connector & DIMM slots & the other is located to the lower left of the DIMM slots.

Don't know how bad those Ost caps were in my friend's computer, but GSC are well known to be crap. You should definitely change them.

An update on my friend's computer - well he picked it up so I couldn't re-seat the processor (which leaves this thread overall inconclusive... sorry about that). Of course, thanks to niangua79, now you know that the A7V8X-LA can indeed have bad caps, so look out.
