Re: Cisco IOS

I haven't used Cisco IOS for years. At that time I was using the Cisco CCNA text books to learn.

Re: "A Network Cable is Unplugged"

Great advice. By following this you will tell if it is a software issue or a hardware issue.

Re: Windows XP End of Life Approaching

Car companies make parts for cars that are not in production primarily because they make money off it rather than just customer service. It is true that original parts are probably made for so many...

Re: Windows XP End of Life Approaching

Unlikely...why would any company spend money to develop something on a platform that they are just about to pull the pin on.

Re: my boss wants to put Linux on the machines. i don't think that's a good idea.

Well said!

I do not use Linux much at all these days (except for my headless server). However I do know someone who uses Ubuntu exclusively. He has absolutely no issues using it for...

Re: Sas backplane sp410423/412736 pinout

I have an old proliant server...when I have some time I will open it up and take a photo of the molex connection. Hopefully that will provide some insight. :)

Re: Sas backplane sp410423/412736 pinout

I'm a little bit confused with what information you are after. Can you give us some further information, perhaps even an image. What backplane are you talking about? I assume the backplane to the...

Re: Laptop mouse suggestions

I thought that the 'hyperspin' can be switched on and off using the mechanical button under the scroll wheel. Change between indented scrolling and continuous scrolling.

Re: Laptop mouse suggestions

I have just checked out a review for the mouse that JimboJet suggested. I was surprised that it actually uses a single AA battery! So if you don't want to use the USB connector for charging, you can...

Re: Laptop mouse suggestions

I can only judge based on the four or so Logitech mice that I have used (only two had tilt wheel). By default Logitech seem to assign the left tilt to scroll left and the right tilt to scroll right....

Re: [HOWTO] Fix/Repair "Chassis Intruded Fatal Error System Halted" on Asus P5QL

Very interesting find! I find it impressive that someone would come up with such a solution.

By desoldering the transistor and wiring a 3.3V source straight to the drain pin. It seems like you are...

Re: Laptop mouse suggestions

Had a quick look. Whilst I don't really like the idea of a rechargeable laptop mouse at first. They do hold charge for longer than standard batteries and that particular model can be charged through...

Re: Corrosion on GA-M61P-S3

As you now probably know. Probably not the best idea to have a PC running and operation outside. You would get all that lint build up. Living near the ocean just seems to make it worse I...

Re: heatsinks on northbridges/chipsets

Not too sure what you are looking for. However I used to own a AMD Athlon based system (Socket A) and the motherboard included a small tiny 40mm fan that squealed (since it ran so fast to push the...

Re: Laptop mouse suggestions

This was years ago when I used to dual boot. I didn't do anything specific. I used to have to re-pair my Bluetooth mouse every time I changed OS. However I think I exploited some sort of hardware...

Re: Laptop mouse suggestions

I have always tended to use Bluetooth laptop mice as I didn't want to waste a USB port just for a mouse transceiver, therefore the mice that I will present are not exactly what you are after, however...

Re: Accessing old IDE hard drive

Re: What fails for you the most?

I was pretty lucky that I have not had hard drives fail on me personally. However just yesterday I had a look at a laptop which had a Seagate consumer series hard drive begin to fail. And I have seen...

Re: Accessing old IDE hard drive
