get a friend to rev the engine while you watch the flexi-hose between the downpipe and cat.
if it seems to inflate when it rev's then your cat has colapsed or a box is clogged.

capacitor ripple?

if you have no load, you shouldnt have any ripple - that's why the cap is there.
i'd check the primary smoothing cap first.
one other thing,
unless one of the rectifier diodes...

honda's are complex when it comes to idling.

it could be the ELD for example.
that monitors current from the alternator so putting on aload like the headlamps wont drop the idle.

point is, gigabit uses all pins on the connector.
so if you tried other cables - check the socket & soldering on the socket & transformer maybe.

invert the output through a transistor, then feed it into a fet.

i keep mentioning fets because you never said what the lamp current is!

a friend has a BMW X5, the metal rods linking the lock mechanism to the handles keep coming off.
reason - some cheap bastard decided the end retainer clips...

but i can imagine someone using a shaft-mounted spring that twists instead...

a data drive scatters data all over the drive to even the wear between the heads and platters.
an AV drive writes sequentialy...

if you connect one to a running linux box, can you mount and browse the content?
