no idea,
the inline thermister is a design i'v not seen in years btw, if it's using one then it probably drives a transistor.
they can use a smaller one that way.

follow the fan supply, one side is going to be ground the other is 12v.
and one is probably going through a transistor to control the speed.

replace the transistor with a jump-wire.

be carefull, the ones with a base usually use 24v elements and the handheld ones are often mains powered.

no, any light oil in a container with a spout - no spray cans.

the problem with WD is it contains solvents & stuff and it dries up pretty fast.
it's sold as a "penetrating oil" for getting stuff...

dont use WD40 - that's the devils lube.

if you have to do the fan, get some teflon-loaded oil.
then take the slit-washer off the shaft under the sticker and pull the blade assembly out.

massive cycle life and the ability to constantly charge & discharge it without damage.

but how loose did it spin with the toothpick?
better yet, when you turn it off, how long before the blades stop?
if it's almost instant then you need to rebuild it or replace it.
