"So far these had the least amount of problems". What problems did you have?

Which GS do you have? I heard the 6200 series are problematic but the 6300 are actually very good...

Voip options for new setup
So, I have an auto shop company that is paying $250/mo for a old analog telephony pbx connected with a spectrum voip phone system and 5 phones, that are from 2015, and two have died thus far
In 2010 I ran trixbox at a (very small) pc repair company I worked for and it's not updated anymore. I so I have...a little exp with asterisk based voip
Should I mess with asterisk on linux, or get a hosted voip like 3CX?
They don't do much advanced stuff, but even with hosted 3CX it can run ~300/yr, which is significant savings and I don't have to be the support person...

Re: DIY PCIe x1 video card...
That is what I thought. Come to think about it, since it was a server, that slot was likely supposed to be a raid card. Dell might have made the PCI-E bus not to support the full 75w...

Re: I have a question about weather or not a laptop computer came with a USB type C c
I literally use an apple USB-C charger to charge my LG Gram (45W)

Re: DIY PCIe x1 video card...
I cut off a x16 8400gs to x8 with a dremel it did work, but when I tried to load drivers it froze. I think it was a power thing. Should have tried it on a card with a separate power connector

Re: Korea Chemi-con
Yeah for large caps, it's common to see plastic covers and sometimes look bloated. Most PSU primaries will have these

Re: Topcat's New Home System
Get some 2.5 to 3.5 inch adapters and put all SSD's in your bay. Set it up in raid 0

SMD coil whine "chirps"
Does anyone have high frequency sensitivity hearing and a motherboards have tons of sounds coming from it? Is this just coil whine en masse? When data to the SSD has high I/O I can hear the clicks and chirps. Same with when the graphics drive inits. Network adapters, chirping after I connect the cable
I can hear everything. Every time I put my ear to let's say an open Shuttle XH series pc (currently working on) in the next room it sounds like I'm in the middle of a the fucking public bird aviary
Of course this isn't just the shuttle, though I think the small case...

Re: Which is better? 32-bit or 64-bit on the edge of max 32-bit memory (Win7)
I just put 64-bit on and it says all 4GB. Not sure how much of it is actually video shared
found out it's 16M GPU shared. Thank god. I've seen 128M+ from 4GB of ram...Last edited by Uranium-235; 06-04-2023, 11:04 PM.

Which is better? 32-bit or 64-bit on the edge of max 32-bit memory (Win7)
So I have a customer who I upgraded his compaq CQ50 (which other than the screen looks like it could survive a two story drop-with an sSD anyways)
I've dealt with this model years ago before but with just virus removal
I've been doing a full upgrade, including a celeron to C2D 6670 (updated bios ahead of time and this works great, also a good ebay deal for $14)
i'm soon going to be doing a fresh install, and I'm curious, I've done 32-bit installs with low memory that get better performance due to the lack of WOW
Now that I'm going over...
